Pit Bulls possibly banned in Ogden

OGDEN, Utah (ABC 4 news) – Pit bulls are causing a doggy dilemma in Ogden. Some feel the city shouldn’t allow so called dangerous dogs.

The city council is considering an ordinance change. A new proposal would not allow specific breeds such as Pit Bulls within the city limits.

The city is holding a work session where residents can take action and voice their opinion on the possible changes on Thursday night June 18th at 5:30 in the Ogden City Council chambers.

    i just want to ask why its not the dogs fault theres a bunch of irresponsible people getting these dogs for purposes other than a dog should be used for i myself am a proud owner of two pitbulls both are the most gentle loving animals you will ever see i have video and pictures alike of my kids ranging from 2 to 17 pulling there ears kicking biting these dogs yet to this day ive never seen either one bare a tooth or heard a growl any person can come in my home any animal can come in my home i will 100% promise you the most you will get is maybe licked to death its not the dog its a few idiots think there tuff mistreating these animals that are going to make it imposible for responsible dog owner that love there dogs to keep them

    i completely agree
    im coming from MI ive had my pitbull from before i joined the military and now that im stationed here in KS i cant find ANYONE who will let me have my dog. This is completly insane. The breed is just like race. Are we going to ban african americans too because the few the recognize are trouble makers. Sorry Abe but people are still just too ignorant and lazy to look at the big picture. OWNER RESPONSIBLITY. My little brother had is akilies tendon torn by a beagle. Seriously, my 3 year old daughter two year old son, and one on the way, with out even a second thought I own a beautiful female pitbull. She is just like one of my kids and now im being told I have to get rid of her because the ARMY stationed me in an area full of @$$#0!e$ who don’t believe we as pit owners are capable of training them to be nice to humans. Ironically if you research Pitbulls you will find out that even though many were bred for dog fights the are extremely obidiant, more than the beloved german shepard. Its the American pitbull hence the AMERICAN pitbull.

    Banning pit bulls is insane and ignorant. All because of the occasional irresponsible owner ALL pit bulls have to be banned?! Ridiculous! To ban pits will tear apart families and cost your city lots of money. Banning pits is not the answer. There will still be dog problems because there will still be irresponsible owners. If you want to do something USEFUL, perhaps require training for pit owners.
