The Clarksdale Mayor and Commissioners met last Monday to discuss “pit bulls.” The Board had previously requested Police Chief Hoskins and the city attorney to look at the ordinances of surrounding areas. In response, the city attorney provided the ordinance of Bolivar County, which is breed specific.
The mayor has asked the city attorney to draft its own ordinance specific to “pit bulls.” This request was approved by all but one commissioner. No indication as to when to expect the ordinance to be ready, but considering they are basing it on an existing law, its very possible it could be ready for introduction by the next board meeting.
