Colerain Twp. may impose restrictions on pit bulls
Jennie Key • jkey@communitypress.com • August 20, 2010
Colerain Township may begin talking about putting some teeth into a pit bull ordinance…. Deters said he knows the owners of the breed can be passionate, but the dogs can be dangerous. He said the township should investigate whether tighter regulations are required for the safety of residents. He said he’s asked Colerain Township Law Director James Reuter and Police Chief Dan Meloy to be ready to discuss the issue at the township’s first meeting in September.

They are not vicious dogs and if you had a brain you would know that. I am so sick of people always looking for something to blame. Chiuauas bite more people each year than any other breed in the world. Chiuauas are smaller dogs with less power but, I think we can all agree they are more vicious more times than none when you meet one. So does that mean that if a little person attacks another person in Colerain Twsp we should ban little people? For Gods’ sake people wake up already and realize that you can not blame an entire breed for a few instances that have taken place due to bad ownership of a few dogs that happen to be of the same breed. Is this another way of helping smaller/local government sneakingly gain even more power over its residents that live within it? I think we all know that racism is mankind at his worst. Why let it bleed over into animals as well. People kill people every day. In my opinion we are the “vicious” breed. So I ask that the trustees use their educated minds to over come such a bias idea of banning an entire breed of dog over 5 incidents involving horrible owners. I don’t care how you slice it, it comes down to the owner and how they raised their pitbull. Please wake up people and stand against this ludacris ordinance these half wits are trying to impose. Ban Chiuauas if you feel the need to flex your political muscles. You are pathetic if you go through with this ban and I will be moving out of a twsp I would have once held near and dear to my heart.
Hi I agree whole heartyly with above comment, it;s the owners that should be banned, I dont live in the USA , I’m an Aussie girl and I have 3 lovely Bull Terriers, but my son who still lives at home has two pitbulls, I can honest say that if you dont want a loyal intellgent dog, please I beg you stay away from Pitbulls because they are loyal as the day is long and very intelligent dogs. (some dumb ass owners, they are not the breed for you, as they a far too intelligent for you guys) they like being social butterflies, they like training as it challenges their minds and love lots of positive excercise, all the dogs we have a happy healthy loveable dogs males and females and play together ranging from 10 weeks,1 one year, 2 two year olds and a 3 year old, no drama’s yet and they have been together, played and feed together, not an ounce of bother, they are in a very loving home, and all treasured dogs, with individual characters and all their needs are met. at all times.
